Guided by our core values—Mentoring, Goals, Grit, and Gratitude—we coach at-risk youth in PE classes and afterschool sports, helping them build character and social-emotional skills to reach their full potential and succeed in life.
Since 2000 we’ve grown to serve 3000+ youth annually in Philadelphia and Coatesville. We coach 25+ sports teams, 145+ PE classes weekly and 20 summer camps.
Position Overview:
We’re scouting for passionate, energetic Coach/Mentors who want to make a lasting impact. You’ll work alongside teachers during PE classes and coach afterschool sports implementing YMP’s proven fitness and social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum while building powerful relationships with youth.

- Instruction – Lead a variety of dynamic fitness activities, ensuring all students are engaged and included.
- Assessment – Track student progress and offer positive, constructive feedback to help them grow and succeed.
- Flexibility – Be ready to adapt and pivot; working with kids means thinking fast, staying creative, and embracing the unexpected.
- Collaboration – Work closely with fellow coaches, school staff, and volunteers. Our programs rely on shared purpose, strong teamwork and joint planning.
- Communication – Maintain open, consistent communication with your team, students, teachers, and partners to ensure daily success.
- Grit – Lead by example. Demonstrate perseverance and resilience, both in workouts and in life, to show students what it means to live the “3 G’s: Goals, Grit, and Gratitude.
Position Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to pass all required background checks
- Available full-time during school hours
- Willing and able to coach at least one after school sport per year
