Why We Do What We Do:
The number one protective factor for at-risk youth is a consistent positive adult in their lives, yet 1 in 3 children in the US will grow up without this life changing presence. YMP is working to close this mentoring gap in some of the Philadelphia region’s most vulnerable and disenfranchised communities. Collaborating with schools and after school sports programs, YMP’s trauma informed mentors build positive relationships with students and provide teachers/coaches with an evidence based social emotional learning curriculum. This “3G” curriculum focuses on the development of GOAL setting skills, forging GRIT and resilience and the practice of GRATITUDE as a foundation for success in school, work and relationships.
